BACKGROUND:
Wiki link.

PERSONALITY:
Once upon a time Mary was, first and foremost, a mother. Long before that she was a hunter and a certified badass, but she always tried to choose, even then, to align herself with the kind and the soft, the safe and warm rather than anything so much edgier. Even if that alignment wasn't strictly true. However, on the surface, she was a girl with an unfortunate family business, and then she was a woman with a past but, more importantly, a husband and two children. In that she is extraordinarily healthy: she loves selflessly, gives of herself for the sake of those she loves, but refuses to martyr or compromise herself beyond what she can take. She is no wilting flower about it, either. In her first in-canon appearance outside of flashbacks, her spirit chased down a bigger and badder ghost and told it in no uncertain terms to stay away from her family. She once punched the devil in the face to protect her sons. She could almost be described as a lioness: defensive of what she loves, caring and warm with her cubs, but an utterly ferocious hunter. Mary has a huge heart and a lot of love to give, if frustrated at times with ways to show and express it.

Much of her love and her identity center, as mentioned, around family. It is extremely important to her, as is a sense of “normal” that she was so strongly denied through her hunting upbringing. All she ever wanted was to leave the hunting life, because she could see its toxicity, and have a normal life of happiness and peace for her children. That stability so essential to her old dream (and recent life) is very important to her: she craves stability, home, and family more than anything, even in the absence of her parents who could not protect her. The white-picket life always appealed to a deeply hopeful part of her, that was empathetic and kind, and felt things deeply. That part of her existed in defiance of her ruthless side. She has a strongly defined sense of right and wrong, of what is good or bad, of the ugly and the beautiful. It takes a special kind of person to retain her faith in God and the protection of guardian angels, after growing up exposed to every kind of monster and horror. It takes a certain optimism, a certain refusal to stay down, and a sweetness to know acutely how random and horrible life is, to see people destroyed by senseless monsters, and still be able to assure her little son that angels are watching over him.

Despite her life-long attempts at getting away from her hunting past, it is a part of her that will never die. There's a focus and a fierceness to her that will never die. Even after her retirement, after she had a child, she couldn't resist going back for one more hunt. After being brought back to life, she buries herself in hunting to avoid her grief. Various people repeatedly pressured her to choose between her hunting and her family, and every single time, she refused. She refused to choose either one, and insisted that she was choosing both. They are both a part of her- the hunter and the mother, the predator and the girl.

One of the most remarkable things about Mary is her bravery. Her ferocity. When confronted with the terrifying prospect of fighting Lucifer, her response was, "Kinda always wanted to punch the devil in the face." She is much the same way about conflict, ready and willing to confront problems head-on with the strength of a lion and snapping into ruthlessness when it’s called for- for instance, when she saw a shady man stalking her and her boyfriend, she didn’t hesitate to beat his ass down in an alley and demand to know what he was up to.

While a fundamentally loyal and good person, she isn't perfect. She can be very harsh and her anger is like something of a hurricane when really invoked. A life of hunting has made her suspicious and often very intense, asking questions first and trusting later. Though ten years out of the life has dulled her reflexes and instincts somewhat, she still has an end to her patience and a strong sense of self-preservation that extends to the people she loves as well. She isn't a flawlessly selfless saint, either- Mary once was ready to run away from home and leave her parents behind without so much as a note, to follow her dream of escaping the hunting life forever and being with John. It's not the only time she's tried to run from her problems; for instance, running away from Sam and Dean when the guilt of seeing what consequences her actions had on their lives became too much.

When she wants something and knows how to get it, wild horses won't keep her from achieving her goal - though a crisis of conscience might - and she has been known to be opportunistic, to a point. It's a simple fact of life to her that sometimes you have to do things you hate in order to reach an important goal, when given the chance. However, her integrity usually wins those fights unless it's something really important.

POWER:
1. Firebending: this consists of the usual umbrella of fire-based powers, including more esoteric things (that anyone familiar with Avatar The Last Airbender will recognize), like using jets of flame as tiny little rockets to fly with, or channeling lightning. She can control fire, create it, and she can put out any fire she creates. However, once something else catches fire and starts burning- well, she can't control that. She is also immune to fire and heat, and her body temperature runs noticeably hot.

2. Power Amplification: She can enhance and amplify the powers of anybody around her. This applies to actively used powers or passive powers (like Force sensitivity, or the advantages of unique vampire/alien/whatever physiology). Generally speaking, Mary puts out a constant aura of "power-up" all the time, but she could also use it intentionally, to give somebody an even BIGGER boost than her normal power-amplifying field. Turning the passive power-up aura off is tiring and requires constant effort. She could conceivably amplify on her own powers, but it would give her a massive headache and be extraordinarily difficult. And possibly run the risk of setting her hair on fire.

3. Enochian Brass Knuckles: these are a powerful weapon/artifact from the show. Brass knuckles etched with Enochian sigils that, when turned on, glow blue. They enable the wearer to take on much more powerful opponents, including angels, archangels, and demons. Normally such creatures aren't remotely vulnerable to a punch from a human- an angel would barely react. However, with the brass knuckles, they react as intensely as a human. They don't enable the wearer to kill these powerful creatures, but do allow a human to cause damage. They work against a variety of powerful beings, and presumably would work against beings from other canons as well. At any rate, brass knuckles are still brass knuckles.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[The video starts a bit awkwardly, with the shakycam and fumbling of someone who isn't very practiced at the art of video chatting. A late-20-something woman's face is up close, clearly trying to figure out "how does I tech". After some fumbling, the camera stills and she sits back, looking a bit awkward.]

Okay. So, I guess this is what people do here. Calling the Internet using cameras.

[She looks too young and modern to be so fail at technology.]

Anyway- hi. I'm new.

Let's just say I don't want to register with the government. Don't wanna put on tights and fight crime, or whatever.

What're my options? Learn to knit? [There are at least three (3) guns visible in the video. She does not look like a knitter.] Start a [air quotes] "blog"?

I can't exactly do what I did back home- no monsters to hunt. No day job to go back to.

I kinda don't know what to do with myself.

FINAL NOTES:
When she arrives, she'll have a flask of holy water and some non-magical weaponry on her, including a few small guns and various hidden knives.
